Borovets is the oldest Bulgarian winter resort with a history that dates back to 1896. It is a popular Bulgarian mountain resort situated in Sofia Province, on the nothern slopes of Rila mountain, at 1350 m above the sea level. "Borovets" is located 10 km from Samokov, 73 km from Sofia and 125 km from Plovdiv. Today "Borovets" is the biggest skiing center in the country in the terms of length and capacity of ski runs and lifts. It is a modern skiing center with luxury hotels and extensive ski course network and has been twice a host of Alpine skiing World Cup competition.
